READING, Pa. - Johnstown's Kris Mayotte, the starting goalie for the American Conference in tonight's ECHL All-Star game, was named the Outstanding Goaltender at the Skills Competition held last night at the Sovereign Center, the home of the Reading Royals

Mayotte's first event was the Reebok Rapid Fire where he was tested by Justin Taylor of Las Vegas and Matt Stephenson of Idaho. Each shooter had five attempts but Mayotte turned aside eight of the 10 sent his way. The Pittsburgh native's save total was one better than David Leggio's of Florida.

Next up was the Guardian Wear™ Breakaway Relay where Mayotte saw shots from Matt Shasby of Alaska, Matt Pope of Bakersfield, Mark Bomersback of Idaho, Dan Gendur of Victoria, Jeff May of Las Vegas, and Matt Fornataro of Phoenix. The Chiefs' netminder leads the ECHL with three shootout wins this season, and he showed why in the Breakaway Relay as none of the six shooters could get a puck past him.

Mayotte made 14 total saves on 16 shots in taking the honor as the top goalie at the Skills Competition. He will be in net to start for the American Conference tonight when the All-Star Game begins at 7 p.m. ET from the Sovereign Center in Reading. The game broadcast can be watched free of charge on ECHLALLSTARTV on B2CableTV.com.

Mark your calendars, the Chiefs are back on home ice on Saturday, January 23 and will be hosting the first place Wheeling Nailers. That game is the annual AmeriServ Customer Appreciation Night and seats are going quickly! Act quickly and be sure to get your seat calling 814-539-1799 or 814-536-5156.
